BACKFEED - Episode 1: Eff Buzzfeed

We call this experiment: Backfeed. It's not a Dorktown. It's something to fill the time until there is a new Dorktown. It's something we did maybe seven years ago.

We started another audio feed called "Backfeed" where we post deleted or lost clips from Dorktown episodes, just for the hell of it. Why not and shit? Then we got lazy AND felt nobody gave a shit, so we stopped.

Well we are reviving it since we were not able to put up a Dorktown on schedule. On this "Buzzfeed", we filled in with some new stuff between Mikey and Producer Becky, mixed in with some "off-air" recordings from the episodes that featured the Light Thieves and one that had Kaleb.

New Home For Dorks

Yo. So after eight years (I think maybe it's more actually) of posting stuff on this Blogger blog, I finally got a website to move the Dorktown Podcast stuff over to: dorktownpodcast.com

This move includes Dorktown's monthy Podcast Rankings. Plus there will be more blog posts about stuff that relates to Dorktown and podcasting in general and we will be posting our other podcasts on the network (Flowing With Famous and The Perfect Pour) too.

We still we be posting the Dorktown's here first just because that's where the iTunes and Stitcher gets the feed from. But once we figure out how to move those without the world ending, that will be moved to.

So come check out the new home, nothing fancy, just dorkass stuff as usual.

It's the first ever "Dork Summit"!! With the Universe size announcement of Disney buying Lucas Film, Dorktown needed to podcast, fast. So Mikey gathered fellow Star Wars dorks, Bryan Harley, Roque Rodriquez and Lefty Brown to talk about the Disney buyout of Lucas, what the new Star Wars films might look like, what could be added to Disneyland, a beef with TheForce.Net, will Lucas give back to the Central Valley and more dorkness. Big change up to Dorktown's Top Podcasts lists. We've really been getting deeper into 'indie' podcasts. So much in fact that we felt the need to expand it out to a top 25 instead of top 10. More exposure to more podcast can't be a bad thing, yeah? We kept the 'mainstream' at 10 because, hey, they really don't need the help from little ol' us. Still we like showing what we're listening to. Also, we graduated Doodie Calls to the Mainstream pods - figured they're getting big enough to be mainstream now.

Dorktown's Top Podcasts From September, 2012

What are the top podcasts Dorktown listened to and enjoyed during September 2012? Well the indie podcasts are becoming stronger and stronger and more interesting. Not a lot of change to this month's mainstream list. Let's have a look at them both.

In mainstream, the continuing storyline of "Emo Kev" gave Smodcast a big boost this month. But Ear Candy was able to hold it off as they are trying some new formatting and beginning to post two shows a week. WTF has fallen into a bit of a rut at the moment, it'll be interesting to see if it comes back on continues to slide.

DORKTOWN MAINSTREAM PODCAST TOP TEN - SEPTEMBER, 2012

Others receiving votes: The Duncan Trussell Family Hour, Metal Comedy Midgets.

In indie, keeping the #1 spot is a show about taking a crap...yep. But Firnecast is still knocking at the door. And look out for Tiny Odd Conversations as they were featured in iTunes "New and Noteworthy" which launched them into the Top 30 of comedy podcasts on iTunes. Crazy stuff. We may have to put them on the Mainstream List if this keeps up.
